Three scrap roaming in 11 further locations

Three have just announced a further 11 destinations have been added to their Feel at Home roaming deal, taking the total number to 71.

Feel at Home is where customers can take their UK allowance of calls texts and data abroad, and use at no additional cost, and best of all the list is not limited to just Europe.

The new roaming destinations are Chile*, Colombia and Costa Rica, plus El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Vietnam and Mayotte.

Three UK CEO has said

“My ambition is to free our customers and offer 100% free roaming worldwide, and we will continue to abolish unfair roaming charges until we achieve this. We’re passionate about improving our customers’ experience when travelling abroad, so they can stay connected and use their phones just as they do at home. To reassure our customers, we have also committed to no changes to roaming on Three following Brexit.”

I recently used Feel at Home in Tenerife on a Note 8 and had a great experience being able to share memories and watch videos when having some down time.

Feel at Home destinations now include winter sun hot spots Chile, Colombia and Costa Rica

Three customers can now roam in 71 destinations worldwide at no extra cost

4.6m Brits have benefited from Three’s Go Roam service in 2017, using an average of 750MB of data per trip

Three, the number one network for roaming*, has announced that its customers will be able to use their phones abroad at no extra cost in a further 11 destinations outside of the EU from today. This takes the total number of Go Roam destinations to a market-leading 71.

Three, which began abolishing roaming charges in 2013, is continuing its mission to free UK travellers from the plight of holiday bill-shock. By allowing Brits to unlock a plethora of travel experiences via their phones and tablets, its customers can Snap, Tweet, Google and Instagram their way to #holidaygoals.

The latest announcement sees Three continuing to tackle charges in long-haul holiday destinations as well as Europe, with the extension of Go Roam into emerging winter holiday hotspots such as Chile*, Colombia and Costa Rica, plus El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Vietnam and Mayotte.

Dave Dyson, Chief Executive at Three, said: “My ambition is to free our customers and offer 100% free roaming worldwide, and we will continue to abolish unfair roaming charges until we achieve this. We’re passionate about improving our customers’ experience when travelling abroad, so they can stay connected and use their phones just as they do at home. To reassure our customers, we have also committed to no changes to roaming on Three following Brexit.”

All networks were forced to remove roaming charges in the EU in June 2017 following a parliamentary ruling, yet Three has been a pioneer in this space since 2013 when it first introduced its roaming offer in Europe. The service was then extended to holiday hotspot USA in 2014, quickly followed by Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Brazil and many more outside of the EU.

In 2017 4.6m Brits have benefitted from Three’s Go Roam service, on average using 750MB per trip. The top usage of data when customers are traveling abroad is social media and messaging, with Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram the top used apps.

Other long haul destinations where Three customers can roam at no extra include USA, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia which see 4.9 million, 670,000, 200,000 and 330,000 Brits respectively travel to each year**.
