Where is the love? HONOR turn hate into love with Valentines card made from negative competitor reviews

Global tech brand, HONOR is sharing the love this Valentine’s Day… by releasing a greetings card with a one-of-a-kind micrography design comprising almost 5,000 words. The intricate design, created by renowned micrography artist, Jayce Hall, comprises of phrases – all taken from negative online reviews of HONOR’s competitor’s devices. To share the love even further, HONOR has delivered some of these cards directly to the door of its competitors ahead of the most romantic day of the year.

Upon first look, the design appears to be just like any other Valentine. But look closer – or rather, zoom in with the new HONOR Magic7 Pro – and a series of negative reviews of competitor smartphones from European customers are revealed. These hidden critiques add a playful twist to the traditional Valentine’s message.

Created to celebrate the extraordinary zoom capabilities of the new Magic7 Pro, the clever design, was lovingly crafted in partnership with internationally renowned micrography artist, Jayce Hall, who creates incredible illustrations of A-listers, animals and landscapes – only using the written word. Some of Hall’s most iconic pieces, depicted from thousands of handwritten tiny words, include portraits of The Beatles, Wicked’s Elphaba and Glinda and even Taylor Swift’s boyfriend and NFL player Travis Kelce.

Made up of 4,590 words from negative phone reviews sourced from public online forums, the Valentine’s Day design took 11 hours to create over 3 days. The intricate artwork takes on a whole new dimension when viewed through the lens of the HONOR Magic7 Pro, revealing phrases in 16 different languages, invisible to the naked eye, such as “It’s the worst phone I’ve ever had” and “they forgot to give this one [phone] anything new”

Artist Jayce Hall said: “It was so much fun creating this illustration for this bespoke Valentine’s Day card with HONOR. I’ve used song lyrics and names in my designs, often written 10,000 times over but I’ve never used something like negative reviews of mobile phones to create a piece of artwork! I’m thrilled at how it turned out.”

The intricate design holds a further surprise: hidden at the centre of the design, lies another, tiny heart, visible only through the HONOR Magic7 Pro’s powerful AI Super zoom.

Avikar Jolly, CMO, HONOR Europe said: ‘They say a picture is worth a thousand words and in this situation, it truly is! We wanted to share the love, not hate, this Valentine’s Day, so we commissioned the talented Jayce Hall, known for transforming words into art, to flip negative reviews, which throw shade at our competitors’ devices, on their head and create something which spreads some valentines love and joy”.

The HONOR Magic7 Pro boasts an advanced HONOR AI Falcon Camera System with AI Super Zoom, offering a remarkable 30x to 100x zoom range, perfect for capturing stunning detail from afar. The phone also features a powerful triple camera system: a 50MP Main Camera, a 50MP Wide Camera, and a 200MP Telephoto Camera for exceptional low-light performance.

Available in Lunar Shadow Grey, Breeze Blue, and Black, the HONOR Magic7 Pro is available in the UK for £1,099.99 at EE, O2, Three, Vodafone, Amazon, Argos, Very, Currys and honor.com/uk
