EE SWITCHES ON 5G IN 12 NEW UK TOWNS AND CITIES, BRINGING THE LATEST MOBILE TECHNOLOGY TO MORE PLACES THAN ANY OTHER OPERATOR
- EE adds 5G to 12 new towns and cities, bringing 5G to more places than any other UK operator
- 5G on EE live in new locations across the UK including Aberdeen, Blackpool, Oxford and Porthcawl, with over 112 places now covered by EE’s network
- EE continues to build the UK’s no.1 5G network, more than doubling its sites across a number of key cities, including Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff and Edinburgh
- All EE pay monthly smartphone plans provide 5G access as standard, allowing customers to make the most from the latest smartphones in even more places
EE today announced it has switched on its 5G network in 12 new towns and cities across the UK, cementing EE’s position as the number one destination for those wanting to get the best smartphone experience.
Today EE has added 5G to the following locations:
- Aberdeen
- Aldershot
- Barrhead
- Blackpool
- Castleford
- Crawley
- Mirfield
- Oxford
- Porthcawl
- Shipley
- Stafford
- Warwick
EE launched the UK’s first 5G service in May 2019 and has now expanded to 112 towns and cities across the UK. In the last 12 months, EE has also more than doubled its amount of 5G sites in key cities such as Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff and Edinburgh, bringing the latest mobile technology to even more people.
The 12 new towns and cities announced today follow an additional 20 connected to 5G by EE since May this year, including:

- Brentwood
- Chester-le-Street
- Chorley
- Cumbernauld
- Doncaster
- Epsom
- Ilkeston
- Jarrow
- Minster
- Nuneaton
- Pontefract
- Plymouth
- Waltham Abbey
- Walton-on-Thames
- Washington
- Weston-Super-Mare
- Wickford

Network insights from EE show that the top three uses of its 5G network today are video streaming, social networking and web browsing, with YouTube, Netflix, Facebook and Instagram taking the top spots as the most used service providers.
5G download throughput* on EE’s 5G network is twice as fast as 4G, giving the best experience yet, whether watching video, gaming or catching up with friends and family.
Independent testing by RootMetrics found EE’s 5G network to be the no.1 in the UK, offering 5G in more places than any other UK network. According to the tests, EE’s 5G offers the best combination of fast speeds and coverage, with the highest 5G availability in all 16 major UK cities tested.
