O2today launches its 5G network witha range of new tariffs,includingan unlimited data option,at the same price asits4G equivalents.
From today, customers can access5G through O2’s revolutionarycustom plans, givingthemtheflexibility to take advantageof5G on their terms.
O2 has also released an exclusive partnership tariff with Oculusfrom Facebookand MelodyVR, the destination for music in virtual reality,givingcustomersexclusiveVR music experiences.
O2’s 5G network is launchingin six locationsacross the UK: Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London, Slough and Leeds, improvingcapacity and reliability in keyplaces.
The networkwillinitiallyswitchonwhere it’s needed most,includingbusy footfallareas around London Waterloo andKings Cross; Haymarket in Edinburgh; Trinity Shopping Centre in Leeds; and Belfast South city centre;or in busy match-dayhotspotsaroundTwickenhamor the Emirates Stadium.
The network will be live in a total of 20 towns and cities by the end of the year, and 50 by summer 2020.

O2’s5G network infrastructure is being rolled outin partnership with Ericsson and Nokia, following a competitive tender earlier this year.
The new5Gnetworkwill supplement O2’s existing 4G connectivity, which remains the backbone of the network.
O2 currently offers 4G in almost 19,000 cities, towns and villages across the UKandin the first half of 2019,itupgraded4G capacity ina further500,000 UK postal codes.
Earlier this year, O2 announced that it had partnered with other operators to develop the Shared Rural Network (SRN) proposaltoincreasetotal UKgeographic coverage from 67% to 92%.
In total,O2is nowinvesting over £2m a day in its network.
