O2 is refreshing its refurbished phone offering, Like New, to offer customers a more sustainable and cost-effective way of upgrading their phone for less. With O2’s Like New range, people can enjoy savings of up to £200 across refurbished phones all year round, as well as peace of mind that their new mobile will be in top working condition after going through 40 quality checks.
To celebrate the refresh, O2 is offering a limited time discount of £360 on selected mobiles for all customers, as well as an additional £70 upfront saving on a number of phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S23 5G 256GB, for existing customers via the My O2 App. Both offers can be used in conjunction, meaning existing customers can save up to £430.
O2’s Like New refresh comes as data by GfK UK’s Tech360 indicates demand for refurbished mobile phones is up 36% since 2021. Last year, O2 saw a year-on-year rise in purchases of refurbished phones, helping to keep them out of landfill.
New and improved benefits of buying a refurbished ‘Like New’ phone include:
- Money-saving: Customers can save up to £200 compared to buying the same model brand-new through O2, all year round.
- Better for the planet: Buying a refurbished phone instead of a brand-new one lowers the device’s carbon footprint, uses fewer virgin materials and helps keep devices out of landfills.
- They’re ‘Like New’: A phone will undergo at least 40 quality checks to ensure every screen, microphone, flashlight, volume key, speaker, camera, battery and fingerprint scanner meets the same or similar standard of a new phone.
- Peace of mind: Customers that purchase a Plus Plan contract get a three-year handset warranty and those on a Classic Plan get one years, just like they would if they bought a brand-new phone. And if they decide the phone isn’t quite right for them, they have 14 days to exchange or return it.
- O2 perks: According to Uswitch, O2 customers can save nearly £500 over the duration of their contract on benefits such as Priority from O2 and inclusive EU roaming – that’s higher than any other mobile network provider in the UK.
- Battery health: Every Like New phone must have a battery capacity that is at least 80%.
- Flexible payment: Customers can find a payment plan that suits them by spreading the cost of their Like New phone over three to 36 months and can flex their plan’s data allowance up or down each month with O2 Refresh.
- Next day delivery: Once the mobile is ordered, it will arrive the next day.
Like New phones are available on both Classic Plans or Plus Plans and come with the same benefits as new devices.
Customers who opt for a Plus Plan* can save up to £349 per contract and can benefit from the following for just £3.99 more per month than the Classic Plan price:
- O2 Switch Up: Those wanting to keep up with the latest devices or after the freedom to upgrade mid-contract can do so with O2 Switch Up at no extra cost. The perk allows customers to switch their handset for any new phone of their choice, whether brand new or from O2’s Like New range, every 90 days* regardless of their contract length (as long as the mobile phone is in good condition and meets Switch Up requirements).
- O2 Travel Inclusive Zone: O2 customers with a Plus Plan can roam-on in 75 countries, including 49 EU countries and USA, Mexico, Canada and Australia, up to 25GB.
- O2 Extras: Customers can benefit from access for up to six months to Disney+ Standard or Amazon Prime.
- A three-year warranty: If the device develops a fault through normal use during the warranty period, O2 will replace it or refund the customer for free. All parts and labour are included.
An additional £70 discount will be applied to existing customers’ baskets when they select a specific phone and:
- Set the upfront cost of their device to at least £70 via the My O2 app
- Select their desired phone plan length and tariff
- Paste the voucher code found on the My O2 app into the ‘Got a promo code?’ section during checkout by 15 July 2024**

These perks include inclusive roaming in 75 destinations including the USA, Mexico and Australia (up to 25GB), a broadband speed boost to the next available tier, and double mobile data for no extra cost.
- O2 Extras: O2 customers can enjoy Disney+, Amazon Prime, Audible or many more, free on O2 for up to 6 months depending on their tariff.
- Airtime Rewards: All O2 customers can benefit from this rewards platform via the My O2 app and can claim money off their airtime bill whenever they shop with over 180+ retail partners. - Multisave: If a customer adds an additional Pay Monthly or SIM only tariff to their O2 account, they can unlock 20% off their Airtime Plan.
- Student Discount: Students get 20% off their O2 Airtime Plan when they buy a phone or tablet and can claim the discount off selected accessories too.
- O2 Refresh: Once customers have paid off their phone loan, O2 automatically lowers their bill to airtime only – unlike other networks.
