BlackBerry brand dead….again?

When TCL took over the BlackBerry license we were given a fresh batch of QWERTY smartphones running Android and the brand once again had some life.

After the KeyOne, Key2 and Key2 LE all launched but struggled in a world taken over by large touch screens and newer brands, it was all but set that the brand was in trouble and with Samsung, Huawei, OnePlus to name a few ramping up high end phones it was always an upwards battle.

The news finally comes from TCL themselves who have announced from August 2020 there will be no more BlackBerry devices made by TCL, and only support on existing ones until 2022 at the latest.

Unless another company comes to the rescue it looks like 2020 is finally the end of the road for the once industry leading smartphone brand and it is a real shame.

With the last smartphone launch the BlackBerry Key2 LE back in 2018, it always looked like things were starting to wind down, and now it looks like the end is near.

Thank you BlackBerry for a great run and for some great innovation over the years.
