EE NAMED UK’S NO. 1 NETWORK FOR GAMING AS 5G IS SWITCHED ON IN 13 NEW UK TOWNS

EE have today announced they have switched on 5G in a further 13 locations across the UK taking the list to an impressive 125 who are now able to get access to super fast 5G speeds.

Below is the updated list so you can see if your location is listed and worth switching to 5G on EE.

Something EE pointed out is that EE actually have nearer 200 locations with 5G available, but the company has very strict criteria before they consider a town or city to be listed,

EE CEO Marc Allera has said that the company consider a location with a population of over 10,000, plus having 5G covered to at least a third, as well as the centre of the location is needed before the company will include in their list, there are more masts switched on in other locations but they are not part of the 125 figure yet.

EE also talk about the impact that gaming has had on their network with the recent launch of the PS5 as well as new Xbox Series X and how data use is on the rise even more as people find new ways to use mobile data both at home and on the go.

EE has today been named the UK’s No.1 network for gaming. According to the latest independent testing by RootMetrics, EE’s network recorded the fastest aggregate median download speed of any network, the lowest packet loss, and the lowest jitter during RootMetrics UK-wide testing.

Network insights from EE show increased appetite for mobile gaming. The launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in November 2020 saw peak traffic for gaming services increase by more than 50% compared to the same time the month before. Mobile traffic for PlayStation alone increased almost three-fold between October and November 2020.

Today EE announced it has switched on 5G in a further 13 towns across the UK, including Leamington Spa – home of the Silicon Spa Gaming Cluster:

  6. Leamington Spa
  7. Middlesbrough
  8. Neath
  9. Portishead
  10. St Albans
  11. Stockport
  12. Swinton
  13. Tamworth
